A medium sized ornamental pear, valued for being one of the earliest to flower in spring. It produces clusters of white blossoms before the foliage emerges, creating a striking seasonal display. Glossy, dark green rounded leaves provide summer shade, turning vivid shades of purple/red, scarlet and gold in autumn, colours that linger well into the season. Its balanced shape and moderate size make it a great choice as a shade or feature tree for small to medium gardens.
Adapts well to a variety of soils, and tolerates heat and moderate drought once established. It requires minimal maintenance, with pruning generally limited to removing dead or damaged branches. Feed with a granular or liquid fertiliser in spring to support healthy growth and flowering.
