A highly sought-after low-chill variety that produces lovely, sweet cherries. Requiring just 200–400 chill hours, it’s well suited to Perth’s warmer climate and can be grown successfully in many inland suburbs. Best avoided in coastal areas, where chill hours may be too low for reliable fruiting.
Royal Lee/Royal Crimson
Water regularly in summer, especially during hot, dry periods and while fruit is setting. Avoid wetting fruit and foliage. Prune in late winter to remove old fruiting wood and keep the tree compact. Fertilise in spring and autumn with a complete feed, and mulch well after planting
