A striking rose with deep rust-red buds that open into smoky, chocolate-toned blooms with a hint of purple. Its ruffled, cupped flowers appear in medium to large clusters and carry a moderate fruity fragrance. The bush is rounded, bushy, and covered in glossy dark foliage.
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Water newly planted roses daily during their first season. Once established (after a year), two deep soaks per week during warm weather will keep them thriving. Apply a soil wetter in spring and again in mid-summer to improve water penetration. Feed every four weeks from late April to early May with a quality rose fertiliser. Prune in winter to encourage healthy new growth, and follow with a lime sulphur spray to help prevent fungal disease. Apply mulch to retain moisture, keeping it clear of the base of the plant.
