A highly sought-after red rose known for its classic dark velvety blooms that fade to a rich purple hue. This tough and reliable variety produces full, cupped flowers with a strong, captivating fragrance. Its dark green, leathery foliage provides a striking contrast to the blooms. A vigorous grower, it flowers in flushes throughout the season and is equally suited for garden display or cutting. A timeless favourite for any rose enthusiast.
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Water newly planted roses daily during their first season. Once established (after a year), two deep soaks per week during warm weather will keep them thriving. Apply a soil wetter in spring and again in mid-summer to improve water penetration. Feed every four weeks from late April to early May with a quality rose fertiliser. Prune in winter to encourage healthy new growth, and follow with a lime sulphur spray to help prevent fungal disease. Apply mulch to retain moisture, keeping it clear of the base of the plant.
