A vigorous, fast-growing deciduous tree with attractive dark green foliage, also valued as food for silkworms. It produces small, plump fruit from late spring to early summer, ripening from red to black. Prolific and early fruiting in November and December, the sweet berries are ideal for fresh eating, jams, cooking, and even winemaking.
Self-Fertile
Mulberries need regular watering during the warmer months, especially in the first year. Once established, they tolerate dry conditions but crop better with consistent moisture. Prune in late winter to maintain an open vase shape, as fruit is produced on new growth. Apply fertiliser in early spring and top up mulch to retain moisture and suppress weed
